COGZ Maintenance Software Update Information - Steps to Install

COGZ Systems is continuously working on adding new features and capabilities to our maintenance software. Some of these updates include features recommended by you.  As updates are completed and the testing period has also been accomplished, subscribers to the yearly Update and Support Plan will be automatically emailed with the update instructions and password required to install the new release.

Update Instructions:

The update instructions below are the same for every version/incremental update release and work with any type of program installation, single-user, network, and even a Citrix or Terminal Server setup.

*Please Note: The COGZ System Administrator should be the person to install this update to ensure there are no problems. If you are not the COGZ System Administrator, please provide these instructions to that individual.

Please also note that COGZ Maintenance Software updates require that the previous version of COGZ has already been running before the most current version can be installed!  If you are not on the most recent version, we will need to provide you with the update(s) to get you on the current version.  Check the Help/About screen in your program to see the version to see if you are all set to update or if you need previous updates.

• Please backup all files before proceeding with this update.  This should be done with a network utility to backup your entire COGZ program folder so if needed you can recover your entire program.
• Log all users off of COGZ.
• Install the update following the instructions displayed on the screen.

• Be sure to specify the correct directory where your COGZ software is currently installed.  The setup will default to C:\COGZ if you do not specify a directory.  For network programs, you will most likely need to use the browse button to select your correct drive/destination folder.

 Make sure that this drive appears in the destination folder listing instead of the C:\COGZ that is the default.

Be sure that when the drive is selected that you receive the message above and that you choose Yes so the update will update your program and data files.

Use the password provided in the email to install the update. Do not use any other password except what has been provided to you from the update email!

If you are installing multiple updates please be sure to run the program after installing each of the subsequent updates.  Opening the program completes the data conversion process from the recent update.
