Computerized Maintenance Management Effective Permissions

Windows Folder Security settings can be a complicated issue.  While the listed setting may appear to be correct, Windows’ security allows features such as inheriting security from folders, denying access to specific functions, allowing permissions to be limited to a specific file, and so on.  To determine what actual permissions are in effect at this time on your system, you need to check the Effective Permissions screen on your computer.  Sample Advanced Security Settings.  If “Delete” is not authorized, the only change would be that the “Delete” checkbox would be blank*.

*Note – COGZ Systems recommends system security be set up with Full Folder Permissions.  In those instances where the system/network administrator deems it necessary to withhold Deletion rights, COGZ will run with some program features unavailable.  These features include file maintenance, system updates and backup. This may also impact the ability to safely import into the system lists as a backup is suggested as an important  prerequisite.
