COGZ CMMS Network User Status

The information and illustrations on this page apply to COGZ Versions 5.0 and above that have multiple user licenses.

Network User Licenses

When a user tries to log in and there are no licenses available, the user gets a message to try again later. Also, when attempting to Backup, ALL users in ALL properties must be logged off. COGZ Enterprise Version only requires users of current property to be logged off for Backup.

COGZ keeps track of all users, whether full COGZ users or Work Order REQUEST limited users. COGZ and REQUEST user licenses are counted separately.  The number of user licenses purchased can be found under Help – About – “Multi-User Network – Users”.  If you have purchased the Optional Work Order Request Module the number of Request Licenses is equal to 5 times the number of COGZ licenses.

Network User List

The Network User List, accessible via File – System Maintenance – Network User List, shows all users currently logged into COGZ.

When verifying licenses used, count the COGZ entries separately from the request entries. Machine ID is the Computer Name followed by an ID number.  Note that the computer name may not be unique but the ID number indicates different users. The Login Name is shown if one is required by the COGZ security setting.  The Login Name is provided as an additional aid to identify users, but, also may not be unique.

COGZ periodically updates the Network User List by updating the Last Check-in time. If a user does not log off COGZ properly, they will remain logged in but will not update the Last Check-in time. When the time has not been updated for 20 minutes, the user will be deleted from the list and the license will become available.

Network User Form

The Network User Form (accessible from the View Details button on the Network User List) shows additional details.  Deny Access is provided to notify the user that you need exclusive access, but will not automatically log some users off, depending on application and response.

Log File List (File-System Maintenance-Log File)

The Log File List is provided as an aid in finding users who have not logged off properly. Only currently logged in users should show a Procedure (Proc) entry named “Login”.  Login Entries without a Log Off for users not currently logged in are an indication the user was not logged off properly. This can be caused by workstation or server crashes, performing shutdowns without logging out, loss of wired or wireless connectivity, terminal server disconnect settings, and other such events.
