Terminal Server/Citrix Installation, Is It Right For You?

COGZ Facility Maintenance Software runs great in a Terminal Server/Citrix Server environment, on a local area network, or on a single workstation.  A Terminal Server/Citrix Server installation may be a desirable option for you. However, there are only a few situations where we would recommend adding the complexity of this type of installation, although we know that you may have company preferences that otherwise make it desirable.  There are also a few things that we would like you to keep in mind when considering running COGZ on a Terminal Server/Citrix Server.

What is a Terminal Server?

A Terminal Server is a hardware/software environment that allows a user, remotely located from the physical server where COGZ Facility Maintenance Software is installed, to operate at a local computer network speed.

What Terminal Server is not

A way to save on COGZ Facility Maintenance Software licensing/purchase costs.

Do you need It? Here are a few examples

1. Multiple facilities accessing a central server, located anywhere in the world.
2. Off shore oil platform accessing a COGZ land based installation.

If you do find that a Terminal Server installation is desirable for your operations, consider the following:

1. Information Technology computer staff is needed for implementation and administration. 
2. Configuration and network connections are more intricate than local area networks.
3. Terminal Server/Citrix Server license and licenses for each user needed (pricing depends on package) as well as necessary purchase of dedicated hardware and maintenance on hardware.

We do not want to discourage our customers from running COGZ on a Terminal Server/Citrix server, we just ask that you determine if you really need to.  COGZ Facility Maintenance Software offers simple installation, quick setup, and ease of use.  Installing COGZ in a Terminal Server/Citrix Server environment when not required only adds unnecessary complexity.
